Gary Adler

WEVA, with the assistance and support of family and friends, are proud to present the Gary Adler Memorial Scholarship to graduating male and female high school volleyball athletes. Only those athletes who best exemplify sportsmanship, leadership, and a love for the game will be considered. Two scholarships will be awarded annually at a value of $500 each.

Gary Adler was a junior National official with our organization and much more. Gary was an official in volleyball and other sports at the high school and college levels. Gary was always supportive to anyone of any age or walk of life, ready to help or make you feel better about what you were doing or who you were. Gary loved the young people in our organization and they loved him. It is difficult to understand how Gary could know so many of our juniors and their parents by name. Gary was more than an official in WEVA; he was a friend to many of us.

Scholarship Application Rules and Regulations

* Scholarship applications are due by May 1st of that calendar year.
* Scholarships will be awarded by June 1st of that calendar year.
* Scholarships shall be provided by the Gary Adler fund to the successful applicants of a junior club affiliated with the Western Empire Volleyball Association.
* Scholarships shall be awarded to students proceeding from high school to any accredited university or college.
* Candidates must complete the application form in full and provide all required information in a timely manner for their application to be considered.
* A candidate must have been a member of WEVA for at least two seasons.
* A candidate must demonstrate good citizenship, character, and leadership.
* A candidate must have a minimum C+ average.
* The following must accompany the application:
a) A letter from a representative of their high school (teacher, guidance counselor, principal, etc.) certifying the candidate's scholastic history, character, and citizenship.
b) A letter from the coach, high school or WEVA, indicating the candidate's character, leadership, and volleyball teamwork.
c) Two recent photographs (head and shoulder shot) or a digital picture file.

Note: It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all required information (photos, documents, and letters) are enclosed with application. Submission of photographs or digital image automatically gives WEVA permission to use the photograph or digital image if the candidate receives the scholarship.
